The shakeup continues at SourceMedia.
Chief content officer David Longobardi is out after 11 years in the role and 15 with the company as it prepares to reveal a series of new additions to its executive team, Folio: has learned.
The lone holdover on a five-person C-suite that has now entirely changed since Gemma Postlethwaite succeeded Doug Manoni as CEO in early 2018, Longobardi first ascended to chief content officer in 2008 after spending nine years as editor-in-chief of flagship title The American Banker—a tenure that began before SourceMedia’s formation in a spin-off from Thomson Financial in 2004.
On the business side, chief data officer Christian Ward—who arrived last summer from SaaS firm Yext—is now back at Yext in a similar role after less than a year with SourceMedia. And SVP Dennis Strong—the head of media sales, to whom all brand and group publishers had been reporting since last year—left in July after more than eight years with SourceMedia and is now in an executive role at litigation services provider U.S. Legal Support Inc.
Strong’s departure came a little over a month after SourceMedia announced the hiring of Dave Colford, formerly president of media at Hanley Wood, as chief revenue officer, a newly created role focused on integrated sales across the company’s information, media and events divisions.
Longobardi’s dismissal is the latest in a series of content-side exits in recent months across SourceMedia’s portfolio of 19 media brands, most of which operate in various financial services spaces. Austin Kilgore, editor-in-chief of National Mortgage News, left in March after more than eight years with the company. He was followed by Asset Securitization Report EIC Allison Bisbey, who exited in April to join the newsletter Asset-Backed Report as a senior writer and then Kathryn Mayer, EIC of Employee Benefit News, who left in July after three years in that role to join HR Executive magazine as benefits editor.
Also out in recent weeks is SVP of conferences John Del Mauro, a 12-year company veteran who had led SourceMedia’s events portfolio since 2011. And Rebecca Sausner, who had served since 2014 as the events division’s VP of content and strategy, left in July to join CB Insights as general manager of events.
Amid the changes, the company is also said to have made cuts within its marketing department, with one source estimating the number of staffers let go to be “about six.”
The departures come almost exactly a year after an earlier round of cuts that saw VPs Jim Callan and Paul Vogel leave the company. Callan and Vogel were followed shortly afterwards by chief marketing officer Matthew Yorke—who jumped to Northstar Travel Group in September—chief subscription officer Allison Adams—who left last November after just over a year with SourceMedia and is now head of client solutions at the Training and Consulting Consortium—and SVP of human resources Ying Wong, who left in December and is now head of people ops at VR tech company YouVisit.
