Time appointed Keith Grossman as its new president in an effort to build out its leadership team, following the sale of the magazine to Marc and Lynne Benioff from Meredith Corp. last September.
Starting July 22, Grossman—who just recently joined tech marketing company Engine as its COO in March, after nearly five years with Bloomberg—will be tasked with leading the business operations of Time, including global advertising, marketing and the digital and consumer businesses.
While at Bloomberg, Grossman served as the CRO and was responsible for increasing global media revenues by 16% YOY in 2018. He also led the launch team for the 24-hour video news product TicToc, which earned over eight figures in its first year. Prior to this, he served as the associate publisher of Ars Technica for four years, and before that, spent 12 years at Condé Nast, where he held multiple roles at Wired, ending as its associate publisher.
Here are the rest of this week’s people on the move…
U.S. News & World Report named Lori Overstreet as its new VP and general manager of education. In this role, Overstreet will be responsible for helping to expand the company’s B2B and B2C educational offerings, including its educational rankings services, such as the flagship Best Colleges franchise.
Overstreet most recently served at the VP of marketing for Discovery Communication’s Education division, and has over two decades of experience working in the educational space. Prior to Discovery, she held leadership roles at McGraw-Hill Education, Sylvan Learning and Bausch & Lomb.
Penske Media Corp. named Marion Maneker as the new editorial director of ArtNews Media, LLC, a subsidiary of PMC that was acquired in 2018 and houses ARTnews and Art in America. This appointment follows PMC’s acquisition of online publication Art Market Monitor that took place earlier this week, which Maneker founded in 2008 and has served as the top editor of since.
Prior to launching Art Market Monitor, Maneker served as the publisher of HarperCollins’s business books imprint, and before that, was an editor at Simon & Schuster. His writing has also appeared in New York magazine, the New York Sun and Slate.
Victoria Hopper, president and CEO of Art Market Monitor, however, is leaving the brand after five years to “pursue other opportunities,” according to a statement from PMC chairman and CEO Jay Penske.

Garcia had been serving as the managing editor of Out Magazine for the past eight months, but before that, she spent three years as a senior editor of race and identities for Vox.com. She also spent over eight years at Here Media in various editorial roles for The Advocate.

He will be tasked with overseeing audience growth, product, social and partnerships, including all contextual, native and affiliate advertising. Barton joins the company from digital consultancy Group SJR, where he served as head of digital strategy and analytics, and prior to that, he was the VP of audience development at iHeartMedia and the senior director of digital research at Viacom, where he led editorial growth for MTV News and VH1.
Bonnier Corp. promoted Rachel Feltman to the role of articles editor for Popular Science this week. Most recently, Feltman served as the magazine’s science editor, a position she took on in November 2016, and since then, she has been responsible for managing the brand’s science coverage both online and in the magazine, and helped to launch “The Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week” podcast.
Prior to joining PopSci, Feltman ran The Washington Post’s “Speaking of Science” vertical, which she helped launch in 2014. She also previously covered health, science and technology for Quartz.
Quartz’ Heather Timmons is leaving her role as a White House correspondent to join Reuters as its new economics editor based in Washington, D.C., according to Talking Biz News. Timmons has been with Quartz since 2013 and before that, she worked as a banking editor for BusinessWeek and reported for The Daily Deal and American Banker. Her first day is on August 26 and she will report directly to Dan Burns, economics and markets editor for the Americas.
Atlantic Media’s Carles Clark retired from his role as a senior correspondent for Government Executive after 10 years with the company, according to another report from Talking Biz News. Prior to joining Atlantic Media, Clark served on the staff of The Washington Post, Congressional Quarterly and the National Journal.
